Irish Superbikes Championship Races
Tuesday 13th July
at
Kirkistown Race Circuit
MCRRCI & Killinchy clubs will once again promote another round of the Irish Superbike Championship at Kirkistown on Tuesday 13th July.
With all Championship leaders out to stretch their leads except for Ryan Farquhar who leads the 650 Supertwins and Paul Robinson who leads the 125gp class they will be absent.
Championship Classes catered for are 125gp, 250gp/SS 400, 650cc Supertwins, Supersports and Irish Superbikes. Non championship races for Moto 450 and Clubmen 600-1010cc.
Practice starts 9am sharp with racing approx.12.30pm.
Two championship races per class.
125gp class will have Nigel Percy, Stephen Kelly, Chris English and Sam Wilson trying to capitalize on Robinson’s absence.
Championship positions Robinson 140, Percy 111, Farquhar 96, Stephen Kelly 83, Chris English 71.
250gp Denver Robb looks to be in control but a small slip up could change things quickly as Richard Glasgow and Mark Hanna are sitting joint second with 112 points against Robb’s 140.
SS400 Carl Philips 140pts has a small lead over Joseph Loughlin 131pts and Ryan Maher 101pts. Both these classes produce excellent close racing.
650cc Supertwins will miss championship leader Ryan Farquhar 150pts who will be racing at the Southern 100 and will give Mark Glasgow 132pts the chance to take championship lead if Malcolm McKinney 104pts, Lee Wilson 65pts, Marty Lennon and Lee Hill let him, I don’t think so!
Supersports Will have 2009 Champion and 2010 series leader Glenn Irwin out to extend his lead that in his last few outings has been in record breaking form. Local rider Kirk Jamison, Jonny Buckley, Gary Jeffers and local BSB competitor BJ Toal will be trying every trick to get in front of Irwin. Also provisional entry for this class is Ian Lowry on board IFS Team Yamaha who are using the supersport class to keep him up to speed for the Spanish Moto 2 Championship, all in all supersports bring exciting and close racing.
Championship pts – Irwin 137pts, Buckley 119pts, Jamison 100pts.
Irish Superbikes should have the closest racing of the day with no more than 10 riders capable of taking wins in the 14 laps races.
Stephen Thompson, Gerard Kinghan, Mark Johnston, Denver Robb, David Haire, Brian McCormack, James Dickson, Richard Rea, Kirk Jamison all will be chasing Championship Leader and on form Marshal Neill from Portadown. Marshal leads the championship with 131pts from Cameron Donald 95pts who will also miss the event. Denver Robb 71pts and Gerard Kinghan 70pts are next in line to chase the points.
Sure thing come Tuesday afternoon if the weather isn’t hot the racing will be scorching HOT.
